Put on your Rose Tinted Glasses, because you need it to see this design in action. The pattern is an optical illusion! When wearing red glasses, the thorns are hidden and only the roses are visible. This was a group project, and my contribution was merch design, fridge design and presentation.
The design is a play on optimism for the past. When looking into the past, people tend to only see the good, as if they have "rose tinted glasses" on. This beer is meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia, with its vinyl record design, pulling the eye in with its grooves. The design was a team effort, working from an early rendition made by our group member Ben.
Of course not everyone wears rose tinted glasses 24/7. No worries, we got solutions for that! The box will contain a window made out of a red translucent plastic, allowing you to see the illusion. For single cans, translucent fridge decals can be used in stores to make the illusion work without the box.
